SARL Wind Tunnel Test

The MACW was taken to the Subsonic Aerodynamic Research Laboratory, or SARL, located at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, for three weeks of wind tunnel testing in June 2006. A 30 x 50 inch test section, composed of a Lockheed Martin Natural Laminar Flow leading edge with a FlexSys-designed compliant trailing edge, was fully instrumented with pressure sensors, hot films, accelerometers, temperature sensors, air data boom, and wake rake. The SARL tunnel has a 7 x 10 foot test section. Aerodynamic data was collected for various flap deflections and angles of attack at speeds up to Mach 0.5. Results are forthcoming.
