FlexSys employees are pioneers of compliant systems technology. The company was founded in 2000 by University of Michigan professor Dr. Sridhar Kota, who initiated research in compliant systems in the 1980s. Based on methodologies originally invented at the University of Michigan, FlexSys Inc. develops and maintains its own proprietary structural optimization codes that are used to automate the design of high-performance compliant systems. In addition, FlexSys Inc. uses commercial computer-aided engineering solvers to simulate complex phenomena such as non-linear elasticity, structure-to-structure contact, and structural dynamics. However, our expertise goes far beyond computational modeling; we have a great deal of experience with materials and manufacturing techniques that allows us to fabricate and test proof-of-concept prototypes.
